A few tweaks could make this app a lot more useful for research and field experiments. I know it's not a typical use, but we need GPS as well. It would be nice if we could have access to a planning mode. Something we could use to lay things out on the computer prior to getting to the field. If we were able to edit the corners of shapes again, without having to redo the whole shape, laying out fields would be so much easier!

The app frequently crashes and deletes all data gathered on the form up until that point. There is no way to save data locally. Forms saved as a draft often have problems reloading and cannot be submitted. The in-app camera is not capable of zooming in. The "collect point" interface is cryptic and counter-intuitive. There is no desktop version or editor of this app, thus all form fields must be completed by typing on your phone. Using an external Bluetooth keyboard often causes the app to crash. There is no way to upload pictures from your camera roll to an open form; there is also no way to save a copy of your pictures to your phone locally. If your form glitches before you submit it, the data is gone forever and cannot be recovered. Map navigation is clumsy.

I'm writing the review to balance some of the bad ones. 1st there is a ~$300 to ~$600 per year cost to use this app long term. (Short terms options are available now) It has online options to edit what you collect in the field. At $600 per year it let's you pre-populate the fields via a computer. It is designed for professional use and it works great for that. It rarely crashes on us and we use it on a variety of devices and have for many years. Some bugs and they are slow and steady to fix.
